How to use the flow curve ?
Step1 | The valve flow curve is a graphical representation of the test results. The curve shows how the pressure reducing valve outlet pressure varies with flow rate depending on the inlet pressure. The inlet pressure is marked on the right side of the curve; at zero flow, the pressure reducing valve outlet pressure is adjusted to the set pressure. |
Step2 | When selecting a flow curve, first determine the following conditions: Pressure Reducing regulator Model; Expected Flow Range; Inlet pressure range; Outlet pressure range. |
Step3 | Then, select the curve in the flow curve plotted against some precise inlet pressure and set outlet pressure (zero flow). From the set outlet pressure on the vertical axis, follow this curve until it crosses the vertical line corresponding to the desired flow rate. Read the pressure value corresponding to the vertical axis horizontally from the crossing point to determine the actual outlet pressure at that flow rate. If no curve is plotted for the exact pressure, a new curve is extrapolated between the two closest existing curves. |
